58 Flaxley Road

In the coming months, we as local residents, supported by Selby Big Local, will be creating a new space on Flaxley Road. This space is for us to socialise, to test ideas and create more opportunities. #Makingourspace is a journey and we want as many people as possible to get involved – come and visit us at one of our events at 58 Flaxley Road, get involved, give ideas and ask questions as we transform it from a derelict shop into the space that residents have said they would like.

What the space offers is up to you! You may have seen Nicola, our community engagement worker, and some of us in Selby with the ‘wishing line’ collecting people’s wishes for activities, groups and opportunities that they would like to see in the new space and we are also working with local residents to help them realise their own ideas.

We want this space to be a catalyst for change, to enable us to make our local community and Selby, an even better place to live and it is important to us that residents are in the driving seat.

Residents are currently working with Thread Architects, to co-design the new space, shaping what activities are hosted in the building, and how the building operates in the future. We expect building work to last several months but in the meantime we will be running a full programme of events and activities to provide alternative opportunities for us to come together as a community, socialise and raise awareness of this opportunity and welcome all local residents to get involved.
